چکیده

The film forming ability of chitin (CT) blended with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were prepared a seriesof nine different ratios CT:PVA, (10:90, 20:80, 30:70, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40, 70:30, 80:20, 90:10v/v),using 2% solution and 10% solution. All films have highlytransparent, smooth surface pale-yellow color. characterized by usingthe physical parameters, the physico-mechanical properties, degree swelling, water uptake. Asmeasured swelling uptake, showed higher hydration, as aresult varying weight percent PVA in membrane matrix. Comparative characterization theprepared included FT IR TG-DTA analysis. From analysis, characteristicabsorption peaks CT-PVA clearly that two polymers well mixed.According to thermal stability was found be slightlylower. various types also tested for antimicrobial activity using anagar disc diffusion method. these results, all showedpronounce activities. Subsequently, biodegradable nature CT-PVAblended studied through soil burial test. Finally, can beused wound dressing, packaging materials.

Enhancing Properties of Polyvinyl Alcohol Film using Sorghum Starch Nanocrystals

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanocomposite films with sorghum starch nanocrystals (SSN) were prepared by incorporating various concentrations of SSN in PVA. SSN was isolated using acid hydrolysis of sorghum starch. The morphological studies of SSN using atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that the particle size varied from 65 nm to 68 nm. The mechanical properties of PVA-SSN nanocomposite films i...

Novel Kefiran-Polyvinyl Alcohol Composite Film: Physical, Mechanical and Rheological Properties

Background and Objectives: Kefiran (Kef) is a water-soluble polysaccharide that can form transparent film however, it is brittle. Therefore, in order to improve the mechanical properties of kefiran film, a mixture with other polymers can be offered. The expansion of mixed systems can propose kefiran and polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) as a new composite film. Materials and Methods: Solutions of 20 gr...
